A report says, Students from 13 different schools in Oman participated in the second edition of the Oman Sustainability Fair 2023 at the Hotel InterContinental Muscat.
"The purpose of this event is to bring awareness and promote sustainability by bringing together the Oman community." The focal point of the fair is a high school competition in which 13 Oman schools will be presenting their ideas on how to make Oman more sustainable, according to a statement issued by the event organizer, the Oman American Business Center (OABC) / AmCham Oman.
As the report mentioned, this fun event will bring the Oman community together to raise awareness and promote sustainability in the sultanate.
Teams from 13 Oman high schools will be presenting their ideas on how to make Oman more sustainable. The event will also feature work done by environmental organisations, the US Embassy in Muscat, SMEs, and businesses.
There will be a fair-like atmosphere; ‘Move Green’ will be playing on stage, while several SME’s will have their sustainable products available for purchase at the event, which is being held after a gap of two years. The event could not be held for the past two years due to the pandemic.
According to the report, the first edition had been held in February 2020, when nine schools had participated to share their ideas on how to protect the environment. The Sultan’s School emerged as the overall winner, while the Indian School Wadi Kabir won for the "best presentation, the American International School of Muscat won for the "most practical implementation," and ABA won for the "most innovative idea.
This year, the award categories include most innovative idea, most practical implementation, best presentation, and overall winner.
As the official affiliate of the US Chamber of Commerce in Oman (AmCham Oman), the OABC promotes understanding, partnerships, and other matters of mutual economic interest between the business communities in Oman and the United States.
Formed in 2003, the OABC’s mission is to foster the development of commercial activity between Oman and the United States.
With 30 events annually and over 170 member companies, the OABC is Oman’s most active business council and networking group. The Oman American Business Center (OABC) is best known for hosting high-level professional networking events and informational sessions for professionals across the Sultanate, according to the report.
The event is headed by Heather Redling, CEO, who has 20 years of experience spanning across three continents. She started her career as an animal training intern at the Walt Disney World Resort, followed by 10 years with SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment. She traded in her wetsuit for a business suit after 5 years and focused her efforts on driving business and launching attractions for SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment's entire US portfolio of theme parks and water parks. During this time, she also provided marketing consulting to SeaWorld’s partners, Loro Park and Siam Park, located in Tenerife, Spain.
