ABCK-AmCham Kuwait hosts a first-of-its-kind S in ESG: Inclusion for sustainable growth | |

Together with the Union of Investment Companies (UIC) and the help of Ernst & Young (EY), AmCham Kuwait's Banking and Finance (B&F) focus group held and co-delivered a first-of-its-kind certification session on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) issues. (ESG). Executives from Kuwait's banking, finance, insurance, and legal industries, as well as representatives from the American and French embassies in Kuwait, were present.
Mercedes Vazquez, chair of the AmCham Kuwait B&F Focus Group and event organizer, Fadwa Darwish, recently appointed secretary general of the UIC, and Faisal Alabdulmuhsen, consultant in climate change and sustainability services for EY MENA, were among the session's featured speakers. The meeting, which took place at the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce, was significant because it marked the first exterior collaboration between AmCham Kuwait and the two illustrious organizations since the start of the year.

Expert speakers discussed the significance of invention in ensuring long-term economic growth and diversification during the session's interactive format. To achieve the carbon and net-zero neutrality promises through the use of sustainable finance, speakers emphasized the importance of promoting inclusion as a social aspect. The speakers concluded the session by addressing the frameworks and pledge to action that businesses use to initiate the implementation of their sustainability plans within a variety of contexts.
It is crucial to have active agents of change within key companies of the banking and finance industry, as moving the pledge to action needs mobilization in today's world of increasingly interconnected industries that require ground-breaking innovation. Workshops of this nature will help mobilize the ecosystem as a whole, which will benefit Kuwait's Vision 2035 to engage in human capital in order to generate jobs and diversify the GDP, as well as the country's pledge to become carbon neutral by 2060.
