Foster + Partners' futuristic vertiport terminal concept for Dubai's advanced air mobility network
The DXB vertiport is one of them. The innovative vertiport network will integrate with Dubai's existing transportation hubs, such as the RTA’s Dubai Metro network and Dubai International Airport.
The Foster + Partners' conceptual vertiport connects with Dubai International Airport and the Dubai Metro to provide seamless, sustainable travel across the city.
The terminal is situated on an elevated deck to facilitate aircraft take-off and landing, and it offers a stunning view of the city beyond. The overhanging roof and facade inclination protect the building from direct sunlight, thus preventing overheating. The building’s facade design corresponds with the adjacent metro station, while the landscaping around the building's edges offers an appealing appearance.
The building's interior spaces have a refined palette of warm, natural materials that create a comfortable and serene environment. David Summerfield, Head of Studio at Foster + Partners, commented that the new concept for the emerging Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) industry promises to transform how people travel in Dubai.
The RTA and Skyports Infrastructure aim to develop a network of vertiports for air taxi services by 2026. Besides, this futuristic project has an eco-friendly impact since it will use eVTOL technology to minimise emissions, thus reducing air pollution.
The new transportation network could revolutionise how people move around in Dubai, offering an effective and efficient means of transport.
In conclusion, the collaboration between Foster + Partners and Skyports Infrastructure promises to create an innovative and globally leading transportation network that will redefine movement in Dubai. The new vertiport terminal concept offers a perfect blend of sustainability, technology, and design, creating an unforgettable travel experience for all Dubai citizens and travellers.
