Jeddah Municipality Makes Progress On Rainwater Drainage
The entire project is estimated to cost $25 million (SR93.442 million) and involves the use of the open excavation method to construct six sub-networks, each with an average length of 16.4 kilometres, and two lifting stations with three pumps each to lift water to the canal. The project also includes the installation of 181 manholes and 227 drainage catch basins for efficient drainage.
With more than 185 workers involved in the construction, the project is expected to significantly reduce flooding during the rainy season, making the area safer for commuters and residents.
The successful completion of the Haramain Road rainwater drainage project will be a major achievement for Saudi Arabia’s undersecretary of the Rainwater Drainage Programme, Ghassan Al-Zahrani, who is overseeing the project.
The project is expected to improve the quality of life for residents and commuters, particularly during adverse weather conditions.
With the successful completion of the project, this major infrastructure is expected to reduce flooding and greatly improve the efficiency of the drainage system. The project is paving the way for more infrastructure projects that will improve the lives of people.
The development of such infrastructure aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals of upgrading the country’s infrastructure, improving living standards, and creating a better environment for its citizens. It is hoped that more projects like the Haramain Road rainwater drainage solutions project will be undertaken, leading the country towards an even brighter future.
