DEWA SAT-2's Journey To Space Delayed By Weather | |

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has announced the postponement of the launch of its second nanosatellite, DEWA SAT-2, citing unfavourable weather conditions.

The 6U nanosatellite for remote sensing applications will now be launched on April 14, 2023, from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, USA, via a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket.
The high-resolution camera-equipped satellite was developed at DEWA’s Research and Development Centre and in collaboration with NanoAvionics in Lithuania.
The satellite will enhance the efficiency of DEWA’s generation, transmission, and distribution divisions by monitoring solar power plants and forecasting weather patterns, seawater temperature, and salinity, as well as detecting water leaks and changes in the infrastructure.
The satellite is also equipped with infrared equipment that can measure greenhouse gases, aiding in optimising DEWA operations. The launch can be watched live by the public via live streaming.
