ERC Goes Green: Solar Plant Coming Soon
The solar plant will be built on a 100,000-square-metre site and will generate enough electricity to power the entire Sahl Hasheesh resort, which includes hotels, residential properties, and commercial buildings. The project is expected to reduce the resort's carbon emissions by 70,000 tonnes per year, which is equivalent to taking 15,000 cars off the road.
The project is being developed in partnership with Enerwhere, a Dubai-based solar energy company that specialises in off-grid and remote power solutions. Enerwhere will provide the solar panels and other equipment, as well as the engineering and construction services for the project.
The solar plant will also feature a battery storage system, which will allow the resort to store excess electricity generated during the day and use it at night or during periods of high demand. This will help to ensure a reliable and stable source of electricity for the resort, even during peak usage times.
The project is expected to create around 200 jobs during the construction phase and will provide ongoing employment opportunities for local residents once the plant is operational. It is also expected to attract more tourists to the region, as Sahl Hasheesh will be able to promote itself as a sustainable and eco-friendly destination.
Overall, the Sahl Hasheesh solar power plant is a significant step forward for the Egyptian Resorts Company and for the wider tourism industry in Egypt. By investing in renewable energy and promoting sustainable practises, the company is helping to create a more sustainable future for the region and for the planet as a whole.
