The high number of applications reflects a positive investor appetite for Turkey and its potential, according to Mustafa Yilmaz of Turkey’s Energy Market Regulatory Authority.
The total installed power capacity is 221,000 MW, with 113,500 MW generated from wind energy storage electricity and 107,500 MW from the solar energy version.
Yilmaz says that the volume of applications could push the final investment amount up to US $40–$45 billion.
Turkey’s current renewable power capacity is more than half the total installed capacity of the country, which was 104,488 MW on April 7.
