Powering Up: Saudi & Iraq Talk Electricity Connection | |

The Saudi Minister of Energy, Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud, and the Iraqi Minister for Electricity, Ziyad Ali Fadel, have met to discuss the progress of the electrical interconnection project between their nations.

The project aims to improve the reliability of the electrical networks in both countries, reduce costs, and increase the use of renewable energy.
Collaboration on Electrical Interconnection Project
The ministers also explored the possibilities of cooperation in the area of renewable energy and discussed the potential for Saudi Arabia's expertise in smart metres to be transferred to Iraq.
The meeting also addressed opportunities for Saudi Arabian and Iraqi companies to participate in developing smart metres.
The Saudi Minister also reviewed the financial and regulatory reforms that the Saudi electricity sector has undergone in recent years and discussed the possibility of knowledge sharing between the two nations in this area.
The project reflects the continued cooperation between Iraq and Saudi Arabia in achieving their aspirations and leadership.
