$298.3m Contract Signed For Sabiya Power Plant Upgrade | |

HEISCO and Mitsubishi Power Limited Consortium have signed a contract worth KWD 90.9 million (USD 298.3 million) with the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy in Kuwait.

The consortium had submitted the lowest bid in April 2022. The project involves modernising steam turbines and electric generators for eight steam units at the Sabiya Power Plant, which has a plant capacity of 2400 MW.
The plant was commissioned between 1998 and 2002, and due to age deterioration, critical problems have been noticed in existing units and facilities.
The project's scope of work includes studying and resolving existing problems and extending the life span of steam turbines and generators by ensuring safe and reliable unit operation for another 20 years, along with other required activities as mentioned in the tender documents.
