Jordan Offers Subsidies For Home Generation Systems
The sector has seen a quantum leap, with the contribution of renewable energy increasing by 27% of the electrical energy generated in the Kingdom until the end of 2022, compared to just 1% in 2014.
Jordan is aiming to produce 50% of the electrical energy generated in 2030 and become a regional centre for green energy production.
To achieve this, the country is implementing an electrical interconnection project between the Middle East and North Africa and European countries to provide Europe with green energy.
Jordan is also transforming its national electricity grid into a smart grid and seeking storage solutions to absorb the qualitative leap that has been achieved in the field of renewable energy.
The government is also implementing a programme to provide solar power generation systems to government schools and buildings and is providing subsidies for citizens to install home generation systems.
Jordan's efforts to enhance its renewable energy sources are aimed at reducing the burden of its oil bill, which for the first ten months of 2022 amounted to about USD 4.2 billion.
