Qatar Aims To Inspire Transition To Electric Energy
The move is part of the country's Qatar National Vision 2030, which aims to achieve sustainable development.
The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change has set out an ambitious strategy based on clean energy, solar power, and other renewable energy sources to promote electric transportation and limit the use of environmental pollutants.
The Lusail Bus Depot in Qatar holds a Guinness World Record for being the largest electric bus depot in the Middle East, with a capacity for 478 buses, and relies solely on solar power, using 11,000 PV solar panels to generate 4 MW of energy a day.
The Ministry of Transport's Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Land Transport Affairs, Eng. Hamad Essa Abdullah, said that Qatar aims to be an inspiring leader in the transition to electric energy.
