A Project To Save Trees and Reduce Carbon Footprint
GAC Bahrain, a global shipping and logistics services provider, recently installed over 550 solar panels on the rooftop of its warehouse in Bahrain, aligning with its environmental responsibility mission. The project, which is part of the wider group's sustainability strategy, supports the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to clean energy and climate action.
The installation of the solar panels is a crucial step for GAC Bahrain, as the company aims to reduce its carbon footprint, lower energy costs, and contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable future. The solar array is expected to generate up to 487,000 kWh of clean and renewable energy annually, reducing CO2 emissions by more than 485 metric tonnes and saving approximately 195 metric tonnes of standard coal in the first year alone.
These impressive results are equivalent to saving about 26,298 trees, which will have a positive impact on the environment.
The success of this project also highlights the need for businesses to embrace sustainable practises and technologies to ensure a sustainable future. With climate change being a pressing global issue, companies must take responsibility and adopt sustainable practises that will not only benefit the environment but also create long-term economic benefits. GAC Bahrain's efforts in this regard are commendable, and it is hoped that other companies will follow suit and take steps towards a cleaner, more sustainable future.
According to GAC, the entire work was completed by leading renewable energy solutions provider Al Mannai Projects within a five-month period, adhering to all regulations and safety standards.
"We are fully committed to minimising our impact on the environment and taking further steps towards sustainability," remarked Johan Fulke, the Managing Director of GAC Bahrain.
In conclusion, GAC Bahrain's installation of solar panels is an important step towards achieving sustainability in the logistics industry. It is a demonstration of the potential for companies to adopt sustainable practises and technologies that will contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable future.
