Replacing Sodium Streetlights With LEDs
Dubai Investments Park (DIP) has successfully completed a large-scale retrofit project, replacing 1,355 sodium streetlights with LED streetlights in identified areas within DIP. The project aims to provide better illumination, energy efficiency, and a safe and secure environment for DIP. This initiative is part of DIP's efforts to implement sustainable solutions and enhance the well-being of the people in the area.
The project will help save 700,000 KWh of energy per year, provide 50,000 lighting hours per month with a 10-year life expectancy, require less maintenance, and consume less electricity. The decision to replace the conventional lights with LED lighting was based on studies that confirmed steady light output at less than 1% degradation per year over the life of the equipment as compared to other conventional lights.
Eco-Friendly and Sustainable Energy Solution
DIP partnered with Litetech Industries, a subsidiary of Dubai Investments and a pioneer in the manufacturing of lighting fixtures and eco-friendly LED fittings, to install the LED lights. The company demonstrated innovation in design and excellence in execution, serving as an ideal partner for the project.
According to DIP General Manager Omar Al Mesmar, the project is also aimed at improving safety. As part of DIP's macro approach to occupational health and safety, the company is committed to preventing and minimising any adverse occupational health, safety, and environmental impacts. The installation of LED lights is a crucial aspect of the ongoing improvements towards providing best-in-class infrastructure facilities across DIP.
By replacing conventional lights with LED solutions, the project will contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions, resulting in a more sustainable environment.
