Creating A Land of Opportunities
AlUla, the global heritage destination in Saudi Arabia, has announced the launch of three new luxury hotels designed to celebrate the beauty, diversity, and rich history of the region. These hotels are expected to generate hundreds of new jobs and provide approximately 120 additional keys for visitors to the region. The hotels are designed with an emphasis on sustainability, in accordance with the AlUla Sustainability Charter.
The Sharaan Resort, inspired by the ancient techniques of the Nabataean inhabitants who crafted their monuments integral to the local landscape, will feature 53 keys, divided amongst suites, hospitality pavilions, and villas built into the mountain of Sharaan Nature Reserve. The Chedi Hegra, the first hotel to be located in Saudi Arabia’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hegra, will offer 35 guest rooms, each offering a distinct connection to Hegra’s monumental landscape. The upscale eco-lodge Dar Tantora by The House Hotel is currently under construction in Al Ula Old Town, with 30 guest rooms being developed by restoring and repurposing historical mud-brick buildings using modern engineering in tandem with traditional materials and techniques.
According to Phillip Jones, the Chief Tourism Officer at the Royal Commission of AlUla (RCU), the hotels celebrate what makes AlUla a special destination for travellers seeking a blend of comfort and adventure. The hotels are intended to deepen the connection between guests and the extraordinary historic landscape of Al Ula, moving the region closer to achieving its goal of 5,000 keys by 2030 to cater to growing visitor numbers.
AlUla is forecasting 250,000 visitors for 2023, up from 185,000 visitors in 2022. With the launch of the new luxury hotels, the region is expected to make a significant contribution to the local economy by unlocking new opportunities for employment and career paths for residents. The hotels are anticipated to further the region’s goals for community development, making AlUla County a leading global destination for cultural and natural heritage.
In conclusion, the launch of the three new luxury hotels in Al Ula will not only enhance the historical landscape of the region but also generate job opportunities for hundreds of locals
