SWPC Requests for Proposals
Saudi Arabia's SWPC has announced the issuance of a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the development of a "Small Sewage Treatment Plant (SSTP) and Collection Network (CN) for Jazan Cluster" project. This initiative will see the creation of 12 SSTPs, each with varying capacities, that will have a total combined treatment capacity of 74,700 cubic metres per day (m3/day). The project is expected to commence operations in the third quarter of 2023.
The SWPC is the principal off-taker for water and wastewater projects in Saudi Arabia, and this development will enhance its capacity to manage the country's wastewater efficiently. The SSTP and CN projects are an important step forward in improving Saudi Arabia's water and wastewater infrastructure, which is crucial for the country's overall economic development.
The prequalification of 19 bidders for the project on June 7, 2022, is indicative of the significant interest that this initiative has generated. It is likely to attract some of the leading players in the global water and wastewater industry, who will bring their expertise and experience to bear on the project.
The Jazan Cluster SSTP project is a testament to Saudi Arabia's commitment to sustainable development and environmental stewardship. By investing in the development of advanced water and wastewater infrastructure, the country is laying the groundwork for a more sustainable future. This project is expected to have a significant impact on the region's economy, creating jobs and generating economic growth.
The Jazan Cluster SSTP project is an essential step towards improving Saudi Arabia's wastewater management capabilities.
