DEWA, the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, is taking a major leap forward in its implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies with the initiation of a pilot programme using ChatGPT. This move is aligned with DEWA's overarching strategy to employ AI across all of its operations and services, marking a significant milestone in its digital transformation journey.
The pilot programme, which commenced in April 2023, integrates ChatGPT into DEWA's virtual employee, Rammas, enhancing the customer experience on the organisation's website. Rammas, introduced just a few months prior, has already proven its value by successfully addressing over seven million inquiries to date.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the MD and CEO of DEWA, expressed the organisation's commitment to leveraging AI technologies as part of their vision to provide smart services that save time and effort for their customers. By embracing disruptive technologies like ChatGPT, DEWA aims to reduce the need for customers to physically visit their service centres, facilitating a new digital future for Dubai in line with the UAE National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031, the Dubai 10X initiative, and the Smart Dubai initiative.
