Dubai Reefs, the world's largest marine restoration and ecotourism development, is set to revolutionize the concept of sustainable tourism in the city. Developed by URB, this ambitious project will not only provide a breathtaking floating living lab but also generate over 30,000 jobs in a thriving green economy.
Dubai Reefs encompasses a comprehensive range of facilities, including residential, hospitality, retail, educational, and research establishments. At its core lies a state-of-the-art marine institute dedicated to safeguarding the marine and coastal environments of the UAE. By bolstering Dubai's marine science and conservation capabilities, the project aims to create the most diverse artificial reef, spanning an impressive 200 square kilometres.
The grand vision of Dubai Reefs extends beyond conservation; it aspires to serve as a sanctuary for more than 1 billion corals and 100 million mangrove trees. Visitors will have the opportunity to partake in unique marine ecotourism experiences, with the project featuring various floating eco lodges powered entirely by renewable energy sources like solar and hydropower. Wave farms will contribute to the emirate's clean energy production, ensuring sustainability for the growing population. The project also embraces regenerative ocean farming, a climate-friendly approach to food production, further enhancing its environmental credentials.
