Agreement To Develop Vessels That Transport Equipment and Supplies
ADNOC Logistics & Services (ADNOC L&S) has entered into an agreement with SeaOwl to develop unmanned remotely operated vessels (ROV) capable of transporting equipment and supplies to offshore sites. The innovative design of these ROVs will reduce carbon emissions by up to 30% by eliminating the need for a crew and optimising routing and propulsion through smart automation systems.
The collaboration supports the UAE's Net Zero by 2050 Strategic Initiative and ADNOC's 2030 Sustainability Agenda. The 55-metre-long ROVs will be controlled remotely from an onshore control room using state-of-the-art artificial intelligence and self-navigation technology. SeaOwl, a French maritime services company, will oversee the vessel's design, construction, and navigation permits, partnering with Bureau Veritas to facilitate the necessary approvals.
This project aims to improve safety, reduce operational costs, and enhance sustainability in ADNOC L&S' offshore operations. Once constructed, the ROVs will join ADNOC L&S' extensive fleet of modern vessels, reinforcing the company's position as one of the largest shipping and integrated logistics providers in the region. The partnership between ADNOC L&S and SeaOwl signifies a strategic commitment to leveraging technology and innovation to optimise maritime operations, minimise the carbon footprint, and enhance overall efficiency. By embracing digital automatization and sustainable logistics, this collaboration sets the stage for a new era in maritime services and establishes strong ties with the UAE's industrial landscape.
