Lummus Technology, a global leader in process technologies and energy solutions, has secured a significant contract with Alujain National Industrial Co. for their new propylene plant in the Yanbu region of Saudi Arabia. This marks the first time that Alujain will utilise Lummus' propane dehydrogenation (PDH) technology at their Yanbu complex, highlighting their trust in Lummus' expertise and solutions.
By selecting Lummus' PDH technology, Alujain aims to enhance their position in the petrochemical industry by expanding their propylene production in Saudi Arabia and gaining a competitive edge in the market. The technology offers a range of benefits, including reliability, cost-effectiveness, and reduced energy consumption, which will contribute to Alujain's growth and success in the sector.
Under the agreement, Lummus will provide Alujain with the technology licence and basic engineering required for the project. Once operational, the propylene plant will have an impressive production capacity of 600,000 metric tonnes per year, serving as a vital feedstock for Alujain's downstream polypropylene production.
Beyond the technology licence, Alujain will have access to Lummus' comprehensive portfolio of lifecycle services during the plant's operation phase. This includes valuable resources such as advanced operator training simulators, extended technical support, and digitalization services, enabling Alujain to optimise their operations and maximise efficiency.
