Building The Future: BEEAH's Sustainable HQ
The building's design mitigates its impact on the environment and neutralises its carbon footprint. It has an on-site solar farm, Tesla battery packs for energy storage, a state-of-the-art climate-controlling smart management system, natural ventilation, and a natural air filtration system.
Beeah has also incorporated an on-site water treatment plant that recycles grey water and has a zero-waste strategy, including reusable coffee cups and digital collaboration tools.
"We sought to create a building that seamlessly blends in with the surroundings and reflects the local environment," says BEEAH Group managing director Nada Taryam.
The design of the building, shaped like two dunes intersecting at the centre, has an exterior that incorporates outdoor courtyards, while the interior includes spaces for both private and public functions. The public side welcomes visitors with a spacious lobby area, an auditorium, a café, a gallery space, and a visitor’s centre, while the private section accommodates employee-related functions.
Partners such as Atelier Ten, Buro Happold, Microsoft, and Johnson Controls were carefully selected to ensure the building remained at the forefront of automation and smart building technology.
