UAE's Power Generation Sector Achieves 20% Reduction in Nitrogen Oxide Emissions: A Step Towards a Cleaner and Greener Future
The study aimed to establish a baseline and monitor progress in reducing emissions intensity within the sector.
The announcement is in line with the UAE's commitment to reducing harmful emissions, particularly from power generation activities, and coincides with the Year of Sustainability and the country's preparations to host the Conference of Parties (COP28) for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
The study's outcomes align with the "National Air Quality Agenda 2031," introduced by the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment and approved by the Cabinet.
In recent years, the UAE has taken proactive measures to reduce emissions from power generation, including the operation of renewable energy projects and the upgrading of power generation networks.
