Wind power To Boost Oman's Energy
These wind farms are part of OPWP's priority initiatives for 2023, which include commitments to health, safety, and the environment, renewable energy ventures, water desalination projects, and tariff-related studies.
The recent successful outcomes of wind resource assessment studies have expedited progress following the establishment of Oman's first wind farm at Harweel three years ago. Jalaan Bani Ali is being considered for a 100 MW wind IPP, while simultaneous procurement processes are underway for similar projects in Duqm (200 MW) and Harweel (100 MW).
OPWP is also set to make significant strides in renewable energy this year by initiating the RfQ and RfP processes for a new 500 MW solar IPP named Ibri III Solar IPP.
This project will be developed alongside the existing Ibri II Solar IPP, marking a major milestone in Oman's renewable energy drive.
