Revolutionizing Dubai's Roads With AI
The RTA has been investing in the city’s roads and transport links, with a new traffic system set to roll out in the second phase of the Smart Pedestrian Signals project.
The expansion will see 10 new sites get smart pedestrian signals, bringing the total number of locations to 28 by 2024.
The technology uses sensors connected to a ground optical system to read pedestrian movement on the pavement before crossing the street and while crossing, improving safety for everyone, especially those who need more time to cross.
It also enhances the efficiency of traffic light operations by ensuring better management of signal timing.
The RTA’s use of AI aligns with its goal of advancing Dubai into becoming the world’s smartest city, with a focus on improving transportation and safety for all.
