MOCCAE Upgrades 64 Air Stations | |

The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) has updated the classification of 64 air quality monitoring stations in line with the UAE's commitment to upholding the highest environmental and climate standards.

The reclassification is part of the National Agenda for Air Quality 2031, which aims to reduce pollution and improve air quality.
The decision is aligned with the Year of Sustainability and the UAE's preparation to host the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28).
The reclassification will establish a unified national system for categorising air quality monitoring stations across the country, making them more congruent for evaluation and comparison.
The guide used for the classification considered best practices from several countries, including the European Union, Canada, the United Kingdom, Singapore, and Kuwait.
The application of the station classification guide will enhance communication of air quality status, improve annual reporting processes for pollutant data, and equip decision-makers to devise necessary plans to boost air quality.
