The company, which is listed on The Saudi stock exchange began to recognise and utilise renewable power at its factories and warehouses.
Although currently SADAFCO is successfully operating a 226KWh solar PV system with thin-film solar panels at its Riyadh regional distribution centre, it plans to use mono-crystalline technology-based solar panels for the project – said Zawya.
The solar-diesel power system, that went into effect in 2016 with investment of $532 million – supplies up to 40% of the centre’s daytime energy needs.
According to the company’s sustainability report – Tetra Pak is its main packing material supplier – which will assess and identify possibilities for post-consumer recycling rates in the mid-long term – reported Zawya. The report shared that while Tetra Parks intends to increase its global production capacity in the future – SADAFCO will also utilise paper straws.
SADAFCO factories currently produce around 40 million cases of product per annum. Its transportation trucks travel 18 million kilometres a year, and deliver its products to 23 storages – servicing over 32,000 customers in the GCC .
