“We are proud to be partnering with one of the world’s leading jet engine research labs to further support the decarbonisation of our industry,” the airline’s chief executive Tony Douglas said.
Etihad Airways set to begin week-long intensive research and testing on over 30 flights to reduce carbon emissions. The AIA develops tools for decision-makers and the public to better understand pathways to net zero flight, according to Cambridge University’s website.
“Achieving an aviation sector with no climate impact is one of society’s greatest challenges and it is only through a true partnership between industry, academia, and government that we will be able to understand the whole system and accelerate change,” Rob Miller, the laboratory’s director, said.
Etihad is the first airline member of the group.
