Al-Futtaim Automotive, a company with a customer-first mentality and a commitment to sustainability, is once again at the forefront of meeting the region's growing demand for environmentally friendly transportation options by introducing an impressive lineup of hybrid and electric vehicles, from high-end sports cars to family haulers.
Volvo, for instance, sells two all-electric models in the UAE: the XC40 Recharge compact SUV and the C40 Recharge compact Crossover. The latest generation Toyota Mirai, a demonstration of Al-Futtaim Toyota's innovative and eco-friendly technology, made its debut in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as the official car of the Japan Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai. The state-of-the-art Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) runs solely on hydrogen and provides drivers with silent, emission-free transportation. Polestar, a pure, advanced, performance luxury EV brand committed to sustainability, is making strides to provide a climate-neutral car by 2030 and to be a totally climate-neutral company by 2040, and we are proud to announce that we will be working with them.
Vincent Wijnen Senior Managing Director (Al-Futtaim Automobile), commented on these recent developments, “We’re seeing significant growth in demand for EV as customers are starting to adopt and embrace the new technology. Rising fuel costs and a growing awareness of the dangers of climate change are convincing many to seek alternative modes of transport. The UAE’s infrastructure currently supports the increasing EV technology sector and is growing exponentially. Beyond the vehicles we provide, we also offer alternative ways to drive. In November last year, we announced the launch of our new car subscription service, MOOV By Al-Futtaim, aimed at providing convenient and sustainable mobility for the growing demand from customers across the UAE. Approximately 25 percent of the fleet on MOOV By Al-Futtaim is hybrid with 100 percent utilization and we have seen an increase in customer demand in hybrid vehicles. In 2023, Al-Futtaim Automotive will launch through FAMCO, its first electric trucks and will continue to introduce new products and services throughout the year.”
“As the world continues to devise solutions for better sustainable mobility, we, at Al-Futtaim Automotive will continue to generate new ideas and relevant initiatives, that support reductions in CO2 and particulate emissions,” Wijnen added.
LEXUS NX (Committed to hybrid technology)
The introduction of a 2.5-liter hybrid engine in the 2022 Lexus NX is the most significant update Lexus has made to the NX and is a first for the UAE. The transition to hybrid technology is a prudent one in light of the anticipated increase in gasoline costs. While operating in full electric mode, the 2022 Lexus NX consumes no gas and produces no exhaust fumes. If you're driving a self-charging hybrid, the 8-speed Direct Shift Continuously Variable Transmission (8AT) will keep your fuel economy at an impressive 21.5 kilometres per litre.
RAV4 HYBRID (Fuel economical car)
The RAV4 Hybrid is a highly efficient vehicle that, depending on the vehicle's speed and the driver's habits, can operate solely on electric power with zero-fuel consumption and tailpipe emissions, or by combining the power supplied by the petrol engine with the two electric motors. Its Hybrid electric batteries are constantly charged by either the gasoline engine or when decelerating and braking, so it may be driven without ever needing to connect it to a power source. A newly developed E-Four technology is utilised in the Hybrid variant to accomplish both All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) performance befitting of an SUV and exceptional fuel efficiency.

POLESTAR 2 (Performance and sustainability-driven)
Polestar is a game-changer in the electric vehicle industry because of its focus on performance and sustainability. Options like a vegan interior that focuses on plastics are just the beginning of the strong sustainability statements made by Polestar with the Polestar 2. In 2020, the company will release its first Life Cycle Assessment report, complete with full methodology and transparency, and it will also issue a call to the industry for a uniformly open and transparent way of disclosing the carbon footprint of electric vehicles from all manufacturers. As the automotive industry's undisputed leader in innovation, Al-Futtaim Trading Enterprises is thrilled to serve as Polestar's exclusive distributor in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and is committed to guiding the sector toward realising the UAE's Environment Vision 2030.
TOYOTA MIRAI (Ultimate eco-car)
The new Mirai is the culmination of not only efforts to create the world's best eco-car in terms of environmental efficiency, but also efforts to create the ideal vehicle in terms of comfort and enjoyment behind the wheel. It has the responsiveness of a gasoline-powered car across the board and the torque and acceleration of a battery-powered one. Toyota paid close attention to the refinement of the body and chassis to optimise responsiveness. The end result is a car you'll want to keep driving faster and faster in, but which will never pollute the environment no matter how fast you drive it.
