According to Suwant to Gauntlett of Wildlife Alliance, "our aim is to do afforestation, where the forest has been denuded, and to safeguard the woods that already exist." She went on to say that she hoped her group might help teach young Saudis to be part of the effort. On the fringes of the UN Climate Change Conference, Gauntlett addressed the Saudi Green Initiative, saying, "We are a non-governmental organisation, nonprofit. Our goal is to reforest areas that have been cut down and preserve the woods that are still standing."
Somewhere about 200 million tonnes of carbon emissions would be reduced annually if SGI's goal to plant 450 million trees and rehabilitate eight million hectares of damaged land by 2030 is successful. Vision 2030 calls for the protection of up to 30 percent of Saudi Arabia's land and marine areas as reserves, and Wildlife Alliance hopes to contribute to this goal. Roughly 17 percent of the Kingdom is protected at the moment, between the Royal Natural Reserves, Natural Reserves, and AlUla Natural Reserves. The Wildlife Alliance is hoping to secure a pavilion and presentation space for the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference.
