More than 300 regional public and private sector leaders and international sustainability experts are expected to attend the forum, which will focus on "Business Transition to Net-Zero - the Path Towards a Successful Low-Carbon Future." The leaders and experts will engage in dialogue and share their knowledge on regional decarbonization efforts and the necessary assistance for regional businesses.
In an effort to integrate ESG concepts into the bank's culture and operations, NBB is making significant strides. It has regularly invested in the development of its workforce, at all levels, over the past three years, with a focus on sustainability training and capacity building to position NBB as a national leader in this crucial field.
The forum's stated mission is to encourage private sector actors in the region to take action in line with the governments' net-zero objectives.
Its interactive programme will give a forum for businesses to learn not just about the shift and its implications, but also to network with one another, get new perspectives, and create actionable strategies to reduce their carbon footprint.
NBB CEO Jean-Christophe Durand remarked, "In keeping with our commitment towards long-term sustainability, we are thrilled to sponsor the opening of the inaugural Sustainability Forum Middle East. Since 2021, when we first announced our three-year vision, NBB has been working to better align its operations and business lines with key ESG targets.
"We're extremely pleased to introduce NBB as a partner for this crucial meeting dedicated to helping the decarbonization journeys of the Mena economies," said Laila Danesh, managing director of FinMark Communications, the forum's founder and organiser.
We look forward to hearing from experts at NBB and other collaborating organisations on how the banking and finance industry will support regional governments and businesses in their transitions to a more sustainable, low-carbon future.
