According to the press release, the Supreme Council expressed its deep appreciation and gratitude for the great and sincere efforts applied by King Salman bin Abdulaziz al Saud and his esteemed government during the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's presidency of the 42nd session and the important steps and achievements that were achieved.
The Council congratulated His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of the Sultanate of Oman on the Sultanate’s assumption of the presidency of the 43rd session, and wished them success in strengthening the GCC in all fields.
The Supreme Council commended the State of Kuwait’s announcement of adopting 2050 as the date for achieving carbon neutrality in the oil and gas sectors and 2060 as the date for achieving carbon neutrality at the level of the country as a whole.
It also expressed its welcome and support for the State of Qatar’s hosting of the meetings of the second part of the Fifth UN Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC5), from March 5 to 9, 2023, at the level of heads of state and government, as mentioned in the press note.
The GCC praised the success of the State of Qatar in hosting the FIFA World Cup 2022, its good organisation, and its positive effects on human heritage and the civilizational, cultural, and intellectual rapprochement among the peoples of the world. It also expressed its disapproval of the hostile media campaigns directed against the State of Qatar.
The Supreme Council promised to back the decisions made by the Opec+ group to bring balance to the oil markets, improve the lives of people in the region and around the world, and help the world economy grow.
As part of the joint GCC action, the Supreme Council repeated its firm attitude and resolutions towards terrorism and fundamentalism, whatever their source, rejecting all their forms, motives, and justifications, drying up their funding sources, and supporting international efforts to combat terrorism.
The Council affirmed that tolerance and coexistence among nations and people are among the most important principles and values upon which the communities of the GCC states were built.
Lastly, the Supreme Council welcomed Qatar’s presidency of the Council’s upcoming 44th session.
