Solar Wadi To Build Solar PV Plant In The Country | |

According to the media, Oman-based renewable energy company, Solar Wadi, has obtained a licence to set up a utility-scale solar PV power project catering to the green energy requirements of Suhar Industrial City, one of the biggest manufacturing hubs of the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn).

The total capacity of the project is expected to be 86 to 100 MW, according to the report.
Once completed, the plant will provide the tenants of Suhar Industrial City with a cheaper source of electricity while also allowing them to meet their decarbonization targets, thereby maintaining their competitive advantage.
In Phase 7 of the plan for the Suhar Industrial City, a space of more than 1 million square metres has been set aside for the installation of a huge number of solar panels and other facilities related to the project.
As part of a competitive tender launched by Solar Wadi earlier this month, qualified companies had been invited to submit Expressions of Interest (EoI) by January 26 to register their interest in bidding for the contract to implement the solar PV scheme, according to the report.
The winning bidder will get a contract for designing, engineering, buying, building, starting up, running, and maintaining the solar PV project in Suhar.
Solar Wadi has shared a rough timeline for procurement, which says that a Request for Proposals (RfP) could be sent to qualified bidders as early as February 2, 2023.
Around May, a short list of the best bidders should be made, and the contract should be given out soon after.
Solar Wadi is backed by a group of pension funds, Omani investors, and international solar developers.
