The Spokesman for the Presidency, Counselor Ahmed Fahmy, said the Minister of Electricity presented the status of implementation of a number of projects in the electricity sector, especially those relying on wind and solar energy, in cooperation and partnership with foreign expertise.
This is within the framework of Egypt’s strategy for integrated and sustainable energy that aims for renewable energy to reach 42% of the electrical energy mix in Egypt by 2035.
Dr. Shaker also reviewed developments pertinent to cooperation with international expertise in the field of generating green hydrogen using renewable energy, in accordance with the relevant national strategy, added the report.
President El-Sisi gave directives to further strengthen efforts in this context, in light of the growing value-added of green hydrogen projects.
The President also gave directives to continue the implementation of national plans related to enhancing the role of renewable energy and maximizing its value. This is in order to diversify energy supply sources, on which industrial, agricultural, and urban development depends in Egypt., concluded the report.
