Indian companies are implementing several projects in Egypt, including in renewable energy
amounting to about $700 million in the coming few years, New Delhi’s ambassador to Cairo has said. Ajit Gupte told a meeting of Egyptian and Indian businessmen in Cairo that Indian investments in Egypt currently stand at $3.15 billion.
Abu Dhabi carrier Etihad Airways is the latest member of a global consortium of key aviation players that promotes net zero goals in the industry. Etihad has joined the Aviation Impact Accelerator (AIA) which is convened by the University of Cambridge. Other top members of the group include Boeing and Rolls-Royce.
Bahrain has joined the UAE, Jordan, and Egypt for a Sustainable Economic Development partnership. Bahrain’s inclusion is said to take the partnership’s total industrial manufacturing value to $112.5 billion from $106.26 billion. This is owing to the fact that Bahrain has a strong industrial sector with more than 9,500 companies and 55,000 employees and $4.3 billion in industrial foreign direct investments.
Electrolux, the world's largest manufacturer and supplier of electrical appliances with well-known brands including Zanussi, Ideal and Olympic Electric, signs an agreement to develop a solar power plant at its factory with SolarizEgypt, the leading implementation and Construction Company in Egypt and the Middle East to achieve 25 years of safe operation and decarbonization of the electrical system. The energy will be used to produce washing machines, refrigerators, Delta electric water heaters, and stoves. This deal supports the Egyptian government's efforts to transition to clean energy and achieve long-term sustainable development.
Egypt ranked seventh out of 20 Arab countries, fourth out of 47 African countries, seventh in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), and 87th globally in the 2022 Sustainable Development Report (SDR2022).The SDR2022 presents data on countries’ performance towards achieving the SDGs and points to areas that require faster progress.
