As part of Abu Dhabi’s Industrial Strategy to boost economic growth and ensure sustainability, the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development is offering plots of land at subsidized rates to firms implementing sustainable business practices. Under this initiative, a piece of land will be sold at rates as low as USD 1.4 sq.m.
Aiming to accelerate the UAE’s national hydrogen strategy and help the nation attain global leadership in low-carbon and clean hydrogen, The Abu Dhabi Department of Energy (DoE) today announced that the development of its hydrogen policy and regulatory framework in association with key Abu Dhabi government and private sector stakeholders including ADNOC, Mubadala, Masdar, ADQ, TAQA, Emirates Water and Electricity Company, Abu Dhabi Ports, Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, Department of Economic Development, Department of Municipalities and Transport, Department of Finance and Environment Agency.
South Korean food manufacturer, Nongshim, the leading South Korean instant noodles and snack manufacturing company is currently holding talks with Qatar and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)-based companies regarding automated vertical farming technology. This process is believed to help in enabling conservation in space, which results in a higher crop yield per square foot of land used.
Egypt’s Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad inspected several industrial facilities located 32 kilometres from downtown Cairo at the 6th of October City, one of Egypt's newest cities. The inspection tour included the Tenth of Ramadan for Pharmaceutical Industries and the Diagnostic Reagents (Rameda), where Fouad inaugurated a new high-efficiency water treatment plant.
Mattar Al Tayer, Director General, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors, said that The Roads Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has achieved the targeted energy efficiency performance indicators 2021 and reduced total energy consumption in all operations and projects by 18 % when compared against the average consumption from 2016 to 2019. The RTA also reduced the total emissions by 13% and energy costs by 10% during the same period.
“Sustainability is a key pillar of RTA’s strategic goals and objectives, and the concept of sustainability has become deeply rooted in RTA’s corporate performance,” said Al Tayer.
