Dubai Municipality has completed a biogas-to-energy project at the Warsan wastewater treatment plant, which has the capacity to generate 44,250 megawatt hours of electricity annually.
The project, completed in partnership with the private sector, will offer sustainable solutions by using alternative energy sources, further reducing annual carbon emissions by 31,000 metric tonnes. The plant's operational cost is also expected to decrease by Dh320 million ($87 million) over the next 25 years.
