A report says ALEC Energy has partnered with Solar Earth to introduce the world’s most rugged pavement-integrated photovoltaic (PIPV) solution, touted as the "toughest solar on earth, to the region.
This will enable governments and private enterprises to confidently carry out wide-scale solarization of every hardscape infrastructure, such as pavements, roads, plazas, and parking lots, turning these into clean energy-generating assets.
"While the GCC has been blessed with a perennial abundance of sunlight, the constraints of traditional solar panels have limited the ability to unlock the immense potential of this clean energy source," said Basar Kayali, General Manager of ALEC Energy.
The Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC), which is in charge of the UAE Peaceful Nuclear Energy Program and the Barakah Plant in Abu Dhabi, has signed a letter of intent (LoI) with Idaho National Laboratory (INL), which is one of the largest and most advanced scientific research institutions in the world.
As the report mentioned, the letter was signed during CERAWeek by S&P Global, the world’s premier energy conference taking place in Houston, U.S., from March 6–10, 2023.
According to the report, the LoI comes after a senior delegation, led by Mohamed Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ENEC, visited Idaho National Laboratory in February 2023 and met with experts from the laboratory to evaluate the latest in clean energy technologies as part of ENEC’s aim to lead the rapid decarbonization of the UAE’s electricity grid.
The letter of intent sets a foundation for discussions regarding INL's work with ENEC on clean molecule generation systems that could be deployed at the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant, located in the Al Dhafra region of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
Masdar, one of the world’s leading clean energy companies, has signed an agreement with the Ministry of Mining, Petroleum, and Energy for the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire to explore the development of a solar power plant with a capacity of up to 70 megawatts (MW), according to the report.
The agreements were signed under the umbrella of the Etihad 7 initiative, a UAE-led program that aims to raise public- and private-sector funds to invest in the development of Africa’s renewable energy sector, with the aim of achieving 20 gigawatts (GW) of capacity to supply 100 million people across the continent with clean electricity by 2035.
As per the agreement, Masdar and the Ivorian Ministry of Mining, Petroleum, and Energy will explore the joint development of solar photovoltaic plants in Côte d’Ivoire, starting with a first 50-70 megawatt (MW) plant, stated the report.
A report says Aspen Technology has announced a new emissions management solution.
