According to the report, metaverse real estate gives users a place to connect online with other people for a multitude of purposes.
Individuals can use their digitised land to play games and socialize, while content creators can monetise the content of their property by charging for access to exclusive digital events.
The scope for metaverse real estate is broad; brands can use their virtual properties to advertise their services, create product launches, and provide unique customer experiences through VR and AR technology, according to the report.
A report says Rony Hobeika, associate principal for urban planning and design in the Middle East and Africa at Atkins, a member of the SNC-Lavalin Group, outlines the role of systems thinking in the built environment in creating a roadmap for sustainable cities, informing decisions, and identifying priorities to solve in the design of superstructures and infrastructures.
As the report stated, a ‘sustainable city’ is not just a place. It is an idea and an ambition that all new developments aspire to achieve.
As urban planners try to meet sustainability goals in a world with limited resources, they face problems like figuring out what problems to solve first when designing superstructures and infrastructures.
A report says Formula E today publishes its Season 8 Sustainability Report, entitled Racing for Better Futures, which details the most impactful year to date of the first sport in the world founded with sustainability at its core.
The launch of the GEN3 in Monaco, which fans think of as the spiritual home of motorsport, was the best thing about Season 8.It is the fastest, lightest, most powerful, and most efficient electric race car ever built.
According to the report, the GEN3 is powered by electric motors that are substantially more efficient than internal combustion engines (ICEs), converting more than 95% of the electrical energy compared to approximately 40% in the high-efficiency ICEs of other motorsports. In addition, the GEN3 has been likened to a ‘power station on wheels," producing more than 40% of the energy it consumes in a race through regenerative braking.
The GEN3 is the first formula car aligned to life cycle thinking, with a clear path towards second life and end of life for all tyres, broken parts, and battery cells. It is the first formula car to use linen and recycled carbon fibre in bodywork construction, with all waste carbon fibre being reused for new applications. Natural rubber and recycled fibres make up 26% of new GEN3 tires, which are fully recycled after racing, it added.
Jamie Reigle, Chief Executive Officer, Formula E, said, "As we publish our Season 8 Sustainability Report, interest in motorsport has never been higher. The global reach of the sport provides a powerful platform to engage hundreds of millions of fans across the world in taking positive action to combat climate change. At Formula E, we take our leadership role seriously by driving the agenda and setting the benchmark for sustainable sport. We are delighted to see others across the sports spectrum follow our lead.
A report says SunKiss, the UAE's homegrown developer of sustainable and environmentally friendly suncare products, will showcase the role it is playing in reducing plastic waste in the ocean during this year’s Dubai International Boat Show.
Which takes place at Dubai Harbour until Sunday, March 5.
According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), over 300 million metric tonnes of plastic waste are produced annually, of which at least 14 million metric tonnes end up in the ocean every year, making up 80% of all marine debris.
The primary sources of ocean-based plastic pollution originate from the fishing industry, nautical activities, and aquaculture.
A report says HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, chaired a meeting of the Council, which explored opportunities emerging in the circular economy and adopted a new green procurement policy for the Dubai government and a shared services function designed to enhance the efficiency of government services.
The report said that Sheikh Hamdan said that the President of the UAE, HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, had made the Year of Sustainability a bigger responsibility for Dubai to help the environment.
He said, "The UAE has created the ideal conditions for promoting environmental protection and sustainability, guided by the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. We have also developed an agile legislative framework that allows us to keep pace with new developments and changes in the environmental sphere. The leadership’s support has also enabled us to raise our position as a business and investment destination that is at the forefront of promoting sustainability, encouraging green projects, and embracing the concept of the circular economy."
According to the news, the UAE’s Emirates Water and Electricity Company (Ewec) has, for the first time, met 80 percent of total power demand in Abu Dhabi using renewable and clean energy from its solar and nuclear energy plants.
In the process, Ewec supplied approximately 6.2 gigawatts (GW) of the total 7.7 GW system power demand.
As highlighted in the report, the significant achievement of meeting 80 percent of total power demand using renewable and clean energy reflects the realisation of the future vision of the UAE’s wise leadership to develop world-class systems and energy infrastructure.
A report says ACWA Power, a Saudi Arabian utility developer partially owned by the sovereign Public Investment Fund, has secured $8.5 billion in financing for the NEOM Green Hydrogen Project (NGHP).
According to the report, the United Nations stated that cities, like the entire global economy, now run largely on fossil fuels. They consume about 78% of the world’s energy and account for more than 60% of global greenhouse gas emissions.
Urban transport alone accounts for the equivalent of 4 billion metric tonnes of CO2 emissions, more than 40% of the transport sector’s total emissions, states the International Energy Agency.
To a large degree, cities are our future.
How cities, both old and new, set up their energy infrastructure and how much they can use alternative fuels to power their operations will have a big impact on our ability to move away from fossil fuels in the next few decades.
Cities will be the stage on which the transition to net zero is played out.
