On Friday, after its 43rd session in Riyadh, the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council [GCC] made a final announcement to the media, congratulating the Sultanate of Oman for adopting the year 2050 as the date for achieving carbon neutrality and highlighting the progressive importance it attached to the gradual transition to renewable energy in the member states in a way that contributes to improving environmental performance and mitigating the effects of climate change.
Lowe’s Company announced its goal to reach net-zero emissions across the company’s scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, in accordance with guidelines from the Science Based Targets Initiative, a global body that allows businesses to set emissions reduction targets in line with climate science.
Amin Nasser, CEO of Saudi Arabian Oil Co., recently made these remarks at the Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association Forum in Riyad: "Global energy transition will not happen without a corresponding material transition. We need to use more durable and sustainable materials to ensure an environmentally friendly future."
